by Oliver Wendell Holmes
A man’s mind is stretched by a new idea or sensation, and never shrinks back to its former dimensions.
— Oliver Wendell Holmes
This week’s quote is from Oliver Wendell Holmes, who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1902 to 1932, and as Acting Chief Justice of the United States January–February 1930.
With each new idea we entertain, our minds are focused and stretched in new directions.
Did you ever start a task that ended up as a research and explore project that blossomed into something bigger than you ever expected?
Or did you ever develop an idea for a new products only to find that it expanded into a whole line of products?
I think this is what Oliver Wendell Holmes is describing.
Next time you get frustrated with a project you are working on, how about stepping back to see how you can expand what you are doing and thus, create something wonderful and meaningful.
NOTE: During the upcoming holiday season, I will be featuring a different author and quote to inspire you during the week.
Today’s tips on Thanksgiving …
With Thanksgiving just a few days away, I wanted to share some special quotes and inspiration to commemorate this special day:
“Not what we say about our blessings, but how we use them, is the true measure of our Thanksgiving.”
— W.T. Purkiser
Blessings are meant to be shared by all. When you receive a special blessing, do you share your gratitude, your joy, or the blessing itself with those around you? I think this is a very important practice that enriches all of us and brings us more blessings. Which brings to me to the next Thanksgiving quote:
“An attitude of gratitude brings great things.”
— Yogi Bhajan
Life is so much more joyous and blessed when we approach it with an attitude of gratitude. And the more we are thankful for, the more we receive!
And, if that does not work for you, always remember this important tip this week:
“Vegetables are a must on a diet. I suggest carrot cake, zucchini bread and pumpkin pie.”
— Jim Davis
Have a great Thanksgiving!
