A series of Inspirational Business Tips from Barack Obama
Barack Hussein Obama II is an American politician who served as the 44th President of the United States from 2009 to 2017. Obama is a member of the Democratic Party, and was the first person of African American descent to serve as president. (Wikipedia)
Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.
— Barack Obama
Whether you loved him or hated him as president, Obama shared some very profound statements that apply to all of us (once again, no political commentary).
One of his best quotes, in my opinion, describes the best place to see and be the change that we seek.
How many of us look to our situation and our business expecting to see the change in our customers, or with our suppliers, or the economy? Sure, these changes may help, but unless we are willing to look within to see where we can make the changes we wish to see, then the other changes don’t matter.
Change starts with you and me …. once that happens, our outward circumstances begin to change as well.
If you’re walking down the right path and you’re willing to keep walking, eventually you’ll make progress.
~ Barack Obama
Today’s quote talks about persistence — or, hanging in there despite all odds!
If you haven’t already figured it out, quitters get nowhere fast! And so often, when we do quit, we stifle any forward motion towards our goals and aspirations.
This is a trait that was instilled in me by my parents at a very young age. I remember them pushing me to ‘buck up’ and go that extra mile. Yes, I grumbled and complained, but most of the time I was glad I stuck with the course.
Maybe that is how I became a self-starter and eventually ran my own sales rep business turned into consulting business. I just ‘kept walking’ until I made progress.
Don’t give up! Just keep walking and you will see success as well!
We need to internalize this idea of excellence. Not many folks spend a lot of time trying to be excellent.
~ Barack Obama
I have shared, in the past, about the pitfalls of trying to be perfect, but is perfection and excellence the same thing?
To me, excellency means being the very best person, producer, business you can be. This goes far and above perfection.
Remember the ole saying: Put your best foot forward? Doing that, to me, is the beginning of being excellent.
I lead a small inspirational group in my area. We are considered a ‘Teaching Center’ because of our size and monetary limitations. I challenge my fellow members to stop worrying about who we are or how many we are and just be the BEST of what we can be — we can rise to excellency despite our size.
How can you move towards excellency in your live and business?
