Inspirational Biz Tips from John Lennon

A series of Business Tips from John Lennon

John Winston Ono Lennon, MBE (born John Winston Lennon; 9 October 1940 – 8 December 1980) was an English singer and songwriter who co-founded the Beatles, the most commercially successful and musically influential band in the history of popular music. He and fellow member Paul McCartney formed a much-celebrated songwriting partnership.

My role in society, or any artist’s or poet’s role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all.
~ John Lennon

Even though I grew up with John Lennon and the Beatle’s music, it wasn’t until I was well into adulthood that I learn to truly appreciate John Lennon’s wisdom!

Even if you do not like his music (what’s not to like!!) or even like who he was, his words were unmistakable profound!

The quote above explains the best side of being an artist, poet or creative person:  “To share a reflection of us all.”

Personally, I believe each of us is endowed with a wonderful gift and talent to share with the world.  And when we share this gift, we make the world a better place for all of us.

Are you sharing your gifts and talents to the world??  Be like John, and be a reflection for the world to see and enjoy.

If being an egomaniac means I believe in what I do and in my art or music, then in that respect you can call me that… I believe in what I do, and I’ll say it.
~ John Lennon

John’s quote reveals the great confidence he had in himself and his music! I’ll bet this confidence influenced his extraordinary success as a member of the Beatles as well as his success as a solo artist.

I see a real lesson in this:  If we don’t have unlimited confidence in ourselves, who will have confidence in our products?

With all the sales background I have, most of the time (notice that I said MOST of the time!!) I believe in myself, but it wasn’t always that way!

If you are a new producer, it is a bit harder to have this kind of confidence — so you REALLY need to believe in your product!  Your passion will show through with your work and when you sell.

I’m not claiming divinity. I’ve never claimed purity of soul. I’ve never claimed to have the answers to life. I only put out songs and answer questions as honestly as I can… But I still believe in peace, love and understanding.
~ John Lennon

Back in the days where John was a bit outspoken, there was much controversy over his comment about being more popular than Jesus!

Maybe a dumb comment, but after reading all he has said (in context), he never once claimed to be greater than God/Jesus, knowing all the answers or being a perfect human being.

None of us can claim that!!  But believing in peace, love and understanding is admirable traits.  And they are also important principles to use and remember when dealing with people.

How much better our world could be if we could all be peace-loving, understand and loving to all people!
