Eckhart Tolle, born Ulrich Leonard Tölle, February 16, 1948 is a German-born resident of Canada, best known as the author of The Power of Now and A New Earth: Awakening to your Life’s Purpose. In 2011, he was listed by Watkins Review as the most spiritually influential person in the world. The power for creating a better future is contained in the present moment: You create a good future by creating a good present.
If you are not familiar with Eckhart Tolle, he is a very interesting person, who spend nearly two years sitting on a park bench in London contemplating life. It was through this intense time of contemplating that he began to realized the importance of ‘living in the now.”
The quote sums up the foundation of his belief. Too often we either lament over the past or worry about the future rather than just enjoying and working in the current moment.
In reality, our current situation is composed of our past choices. So, according to Eckhart, the best way to enjoy a better future is to create a good present!
So let’s agree today that we create time right now today to work on something of value today to make for a better future for ourselves and our businesses!
People tend to dwell more on negative things than on good things. So the mind then becomes obsessed with negative things, with judgments, guilt and anxiety produced by thoughts about the future and so on.
~ Eckhart Tolle
I truly believe that we are better people when we choose to dwell on positive things. Of course, that does not mean that negatives things don’t happen — because they do. But how much better off we would be if we focused on the positive.
We have all gone through periods of our life when things looked bleak. Bills were piling up, health was poor or people we loved left us. Take time to grieve these things — then let’s move on.
Good can come out of any circumstance or situation, if we chose to look at it from a positive perspective. Let’s look at what we positive result we can create in our lives and focus on that!
Where can you turn your thinking around from the negative to the positive? Life is so much nicer and easier when we chose to view it from a positive perspective!
It is through gratitude for the present moment that the spiritual dimension of life opens up.
Recognizing and expressing gratitude is the best way I know to show appreciation for life and all it has to offer.
Too often, we get caught in the negativity of the moment: The political climate, the horrible crimes we hear about everyday and the weather disasters around the world. It can all seem rather negative and depressing.
But, if we stop for a moment and start to recognize the good things going on, we can change our whole attitude. Who can be angry or depressed at a beautiful sunset, the laughter and play of a small child, or the antics of a pet?
Rather than dwelling on the negativity in the world, let’s focus on the little blessing during our day. According to Eckhart, it will open up a whole new spiritual dimension for us!
