Today’s Business Tip from …
Francis of Assisi
Saint Francis of Assisi, born Giovanni di Pietro di Bernardone, informally named as Francesco (1181/1182 – 3 October 1226), was an Italian Catholic friar, deacon and preacher. He founded the men’s Order of Friars Minor, the women’s Order of Saint Clare, the Third Order of Saint Francis and the Custody of the Holy Land. Francis is one of the most venerated religious figures in history.
“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
I was raised Catholic and read stories about St. Francis of Assisi when I was growing up. Although he is known for living a very simple and poor life, he was born into a wealthy merchant family — which he abandoned as a young man.
Business and life, in general, seems to work when we move through our fears and act. After that, it gets easier and easier to take more steps towards our goal(s).
I want to close this section with some final words of wisdom from Francis of Assisi (Special Note: If you are interesting, the famous Prayer of St Francis can be found here):
