Inspirational Thoughts from Brene Brown

Casandra Brene Brown Ph.D. LMSW (born November 18, 1965) is a research professor at Inspirational Thoughts from Brene Brownthe University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation – Brené Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent her career studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy and is the author of five #1 New York Times bestsellers.

“If you think dealing with issues like worthiness and authenticity and vulnerability are not worthwhile because there are more pressing issues, like the bottom line or attendance or standardized test scores, you are sadly, sadly mistaken. It underpins everything.”

Today is Brene Brown’s birthday.  Interesting, but I did not plan this — even though I featured one of her books in my weekly article!

Daring Greatly by Brene BrownI love her emphasis on dealing with her issues first.  Her books are amazing reads as she puts herself out there, modeling vulnerability in its true form.

To have a fulfilling life and a successful business, we need to deal with our own ‘stuff’ first.

Personally, although it is highly recommended, I have not read Daring Greatly.  But it is next on my list!  Rising Strong was a wonderful life-changing book — I am sure that Daring Greatly will be as well.

I would like to share one final quote from Brene Brown:

“We’re hardwired for connection. There’s no arguing with the bioscience. But we can want it so badly we’re trying to hot-wire it.”
