Moving Past Fear

Fear is a strong motivation to do nothing rather than stepping out.  Moving past fear can be difficult as it often means changing the way we are thinking and acting towards a particular situation.  If you feel this way, you are not alone

According to Sean Low’s article on The Business of Being Creative website …

Moving Past Fear

Change is really, really hard.  It is even harder if it is forced on you as 2020 has done to all of us.  Nobody wants to be wrong or to realize that good enough just is not.  So we invest in staying stuck, impose artificial limitations on ourselves that, ironically, keep us safe.  Instead of evolving to meet the moment we choose to hibernate.

I have become too familiar with moving past fear these last weeks since our house burnt down on Labor Day.  After the shock of the situation wore off, all I wanted to do is go back to my old house (nothing was left) and my old comfortable life.  The only way I could move forward was to accept the change that happened to me and look for ways to move forward.

Sharing Sean’s thoughts further …

It is far too easy to say you have to persist, fight through your fear, believe in the change you seek. … Nobody has the answer except for you.  Support only matters if you are ready to actually walk the path to another place.

When I started my sales rep business, years ago, I remember dealing with the fear of rejection every time I talked to a store buyer.  Over time, and with a few successes under my belt, making sales calls became easier.

Then, when we started our own line of products, I pushed through the fear and we became successful.

After I decided to retire from road repping, I began my coaching and consulting business.  Will all the experience I had working with new producers, I wanted to share my accumulated wisdom with other budding producers and creative entrepreneurs.

Was I afraid?  Of course, I was — but I decided not to let my fears hold me back.

So, here I am again:  Working at moving past a new fear.  But having lived through so much, I know I can move forward and reinvent my life (and maybe my business).

I also know, that despite your doubts, you, too, can move past fear in your life and business to become successful! If you need help, I am here to guide you through. Find more information about my 1-on-1 Wholesale Business Consulting and Coaching.
