Gardner struggled with homelessness while raising a toddler son. He became a stockbroker and eventually founded his own brokerage firm Gardner Rich & Co in 1987. In 2006, Gardner sold his minority stake in the firm and published a memoir. That book was made into the motion picture The Pursuit of Happyness starring Will Smith.“No matter what you accomplish, when you’re doing something you’re truly passionate about… the opportunities are always going to be bigger.”
Passion is a very strong guiding force in our lives. It drives us; it opens doors, it helps us achieve success!
Most of the gurus I have listened to or read encourage us to always pursue what we are passionate about. Why? Because, like Chris Gardner says … “the opportunities are always going to be bigger.”
When we are passionate, we are driven to see something that others may not see. We are driven to go farther than most to see our dreams to fruition. Most creative entrepreneurs I know and work with have and experience this compassion on some level. Without it, we are just doing a job — and if that be the case, I suggest you find someone to hire you instead of trying to build your own business.
