Inspirational Quote from Joe DiMaggio

Today’s business tip from …Inspirational Quote from Joe DiMaggio
Joe DiMaggio

Joseph Paul DiMaggio (November 25, 1914 – March 8, 1999), nicknamed “Joltin’ Joe” and “The Yankee Clipper“, was an American baseball center fielder who played his entire 13-year career in Major League Baseball for the New York Yankees. He is perhaps best known for his 56-game hitting streak (May 15 – July 16, 1941), a record that still stands.  DiMaggio was a three-time Most Valuable Player Award winner and an All-Star in each of his 13 seasons. During his tenure with the Yankees, the club won ten American League pennants and nine World Series championships.

“Motivation is something nobody else can give you. Others can help motivate you, but basically it must come from you and it must be a constant desire to do your very best at all times and under any circumstances.”

I can’t think of anyone more qualified to talk about motivation than a ball player!

Athletes spend numerous hours working on their personal training, techniques and workouts. It seems that they eat, sleep and dream their sport!

Do you know of anyone business person who spends as time on perfecting their business and/or craft?

And, according to Joe, the motivation does not come from the outside but from within.  Obviously, he was driven to his very best under any and every circumstance.

One last word about motivation from Joe:

“If you keep thinking about what you want to do or what you hope will happen, you don’t do it, and it won’t happen.”
