Inspirational Biz Quote from Dale Carnegie

Today’s business tip is from …Dale Carnegie
Dale Carnegie

Dale Harbison Carnegie spelled Carnagey until c. 1922; November 24, 1888 – November 1, 1955) was an American writer and lecturer and the developer of famous courses in self-improvement, salesmanship, corporate training, public speaking, and interpersonal skills. Born into poverty on a farm in Missouri, he was the author of How to Win Friends and Influence People (1936), a bestseller that remains popular today. He also wrote How to Stop Worrying and Start Living (1948), Lincoln the Unknown (1932), and several other books.

“One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today.”

Does this strike a nerve inside of you?

Life will not get better once we do this or that, but only when we learn to live and enjoy the moment we are in.  So many stressors are just insignificant nothings that we blew out of proportion.

How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale CarnegieIn my older years now, I wish I had not been so strict with my kids over non-important issues.  I wish we had taken more time to have fun and less time to fuss over dirty clothes and dirty faces.

Maybe we need to learn this with our business life as well.  We strive so hard to be successful, to out-do our competitors and get that last account — even if it causes stress in our family!

Of course, there is nothing wrong with working towards success — but let’s not forget to stop and smell the roses along the way.  We will be much happier.

What are you doing today to enjoy the ride you are on with your life and business?

Inspirational Biz Quote from Tim Ferriss

Today’s business tip is from … Tim Ferriss
Tim Ferriss

Timothy (Tim) Ferriss (born July 20, 1977) is an American author, entrepreneur, self-proclaimed “human guinea pig”, and public speaker.  He has written a number of self-help books on the “4-hour” theme, some of which have appeared on the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller lists, starting with The 4-Hour Workweek.  Ferriss is also an angel investor and an advisor to Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Evernote, and Uber, among other companies.

“I encourage active skepticism – when people are being skeptical because they’re trying to identify the best course of action. They’re trying to identify the next step for themselves or other people.”

Obviously, Tim appreciates active discourse between people when formulating ideas and actions.

The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim FerrissSome of the best ideas evolve during critical discussions between people.  You know the kind …. “this might work if we do xyz instead of abc.”

But please notice that he encourages skepticism when developing the best course of action.  This is very different from being critical to be critical … to just bring down a person or idea for no good reason.

I believe we can do this ourselves, without others input, as well.  Write down your ideas or plans and put it aside for a time.  Go back to it later, looking at it from an impersonal perspective, being actively skeptical.  You might gain some wonderful insights!

Michael J. Fox

Inspirational Biz Tip from Michael J. Fox

Today’s Business Tip from Michael J. FoxMichael J. Fox

Michael Andrew Fox,  (born June 9, 1961), known professionally as Michael J. Fox, is a Canadian-American actor, author, producer, and activist. With a film and television career spanning from the 1970s, Fox starred in the Back to the Future trilogy, where he portrayed Marty McFly. In addition, we won five Emmys, four Golden Globes, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.  Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991, at age 29, and disclosed his condition to the public in 1998. Fox semi-retired from acting in 2000 as the symptoms of his disease worsened.

There’s always failure. And there’s always disappointment. And there’s always loss. But the secret is learning from the loss, and realizing that none of those holes are vacuums.
~Michael J. Fox

Michael is an inspiration to anyone going through extreme difficulties or set-backs.  Instead of viewing his disease as the end of his usefulness, he chooses to learn from the experience.

It is so easy to ‘throw in the towel’ when things do not turn out the way we want.  Giving up is the fastest way to fail — especially for people like Michael.

None of our losses, disappoints or holes are ‘vacuums’  when you chose to see them as a vehicle for growth and learning.

Next time you start to feel sorry for yourself in any circumstance, remember Michael — and be a survivor instead!

So whatever it is you want, need or desire or just like to have, you better try to get it now, ’cause this is the only time there is.
~Della Reese

Now is the only time there is.

Angels Along the Way by Della ReeseToo often we put things off, let them go for another day, but no time is better than now.

We live in an exciting world.  And things move and change so quickly ….  Why put things off!

Let’s enjoy each day we have.  It is obvious that Della wished that for everyone as much as she wished and lived it for herself.

NOTE:  Sharing quotes and inspiration in memory of Della Reese who recently passed away.

Inspirational Biz Tip from Walt Disney

Today’s Business Tip from Walt DisneyWalt Disney

Walter Elias Disney  (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American entrepreneur, animator, voice actor and film producer. A pioneer of the American animation industry, he introduced several developments in the production of cartoons. As a film producer, Disney holds the record for most Academy Awards earned by an individual, having won 22 Oscars from 59 nominations. He was presented with two Golden Globe Special Achievement Awards and an Emmy Award, among other honors. Several of his films are included in the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress.

All the adversity I’ve had in my life, all my troubles and obstacles, have strengthened me… You may not realize it when it happens, but a kick in the teeth may be the best thing in the world for you.
~Walt Disney

Walt, like most successful businessmen, faced many obstacles before obtaining success in his field.

Walt DisneyDid he give up during this time?  Obviously not!!

He took each trouble and obstacle as a lesson to learn where to focus his attention next …. or at least what not to do in the future.

Personally, I have come to the conclusion that the most successful people are those who continue to perverse during trials rather than giving in or giving up.

How differently things would be without the success of Mickey Mouse and all of the Disney creations….
