Inspirational Words from Ray Kroc

Raymond Albert Kroc (October 5, 1902 – January 14, 1984) was an American businessman.Inspirational Words from Ray Kroc He joined the California company McDonald’s in 1954 after the McDonald brothers had franchised six locations out from their original 1940 operation in San Bernardino. This set the stage for national expansion with the help of Kroc, eventually leading to a global franchise, making it the most successful fast-food corporation in the world. Kroc was included in Time 100: The Most Important People of the Century and amassed a multi-million dollar fortune during his lifetime. He owned the San Diego Padres baseball team from 1974 until his death in 1984.

“If you work just for money, you’ll never make it, but if you love what you’re doing and you always put the customer first, success will be yours.”

Ray Kroc is one of the most successful businessmen of our time. He understood the importance of customer service. If we continually put making money over helping people, we lose our edge for success.

Working in the service industry for many years, I learned this over and over again. It did not matter how wonderful a product seemed to me or how inexpensive it may have been, if it did not meet my customer’s and buyer’s needs, it would not sell.

One of the reasons why working closely with your end consumers is so important is you get a feel for what the customer wants. Local shows and fairs are great places to get feedback. Also, you can learn good sales skills at these shows.

Learning your customer’s wants and needs is one of the fastest ways to business success.

I would like to share one final quote from Ray Kroc — which may explain his success:

“The two most important requirements for major success are: first, being in the right place at the right time, and second, doing something about it.”
