Ricardo Benjamín Salinas Pliego (born 19 October 1955) is a Mexican businessman, the founder and chairman of Grupo Salinas, a group of companies with interests in telecommunications, media, financial services, and retail stores. He is the third richest person in Mexico and the 110th richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of US$13.2 billion in February 2020.
“To me, wealth is the peace of mind you have, your family, your friends, your colleagues. Everything else is just money, and it really is funny how people pay so much attention to that.”
Wealth can mean different things. Most of us think about the money aspect and never consider all the ways we can be wealthy.
How about the peace of mind that Ricardo Salinas Pliego refers to. I would think that peace of mind could make us feel wealthy.
Consider your circle of friends and acquaintances — or your co-workers and colleagues: Would a good group of friends mean you are wealthy?
What if you had all the money in the world, but no friends or peace of mind. Do you think you would feel wealthy?
Somehow, I don’t think so.
Maybe an abundance of joy, peace, love, good health and a sound mind is an important aspect of wealth — which may or may not include money.
We should consider that other forms of wealth can be just as rewarding — or more rewarding — than money!
I would like to share one final quote from Ricardo Salinas Pliego on what can make us better people:
