Sir Richard Starkey (born 7 July 1940), known professionally as Ringo Starr, is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who gained worldwide fame as the drummer for the Beatles. He occasionally sang lead vocals with the group, usually for one song on each album, including “With a Little Help from My Friends”, “Yellow Submarine”, “Good Night”, and their cover of “Act Naturally”. He also wrote and sang the Beatles’ songs “Don’t Pass Me By” and “Octopus’s Garden”, and is credited as a co-writer of others, including “What Goes On” and “Flying”.

I doubt there is anyone reading this that is not familiar with and knows a bit about the impact Ringo Starr and the Beatles made on the world in the 1960s.
Since his birthday was this week, I wanted to honor him and his contributions to society. As a child growing into my own during the ’60s, I like so many other young girls, plastered my walls with pictures of Ringo and the Beatles!
But I found his quote rather profound. We forget sometimes that all people — even the rich and famous — are just ordinary people trying to handle themselves and their lives.
I love that Ringo openly admitted that he, too, was just trying to find his way in the world! In the ’60s, I thought he (and the rest of the Beatles) was ‘the world’!
